About the Cover
Histopathology of Candida albicans (pink staining)-infected hard palate harvested from immunodeficient (natural killer and T cell-deficient) mice 3 weeks after oral inoculation. The representative tissue was fixed in buffered formalin and stained using a standard periodic acid--Schiff reaction to detect the presence of infecting C. albicans. Both yeast and hyphal forms are present in the infected tissue. Courtesy Dr D. A. Schofield, Dept of Microbiology and Immunology, Medical University of South Carolina, USA.
