Acute anterior uveitis, showing the typical features of leptospiral uveitis, i.e. congested conjunctival blood vessels, accumulation of infiltrating cells in anterior chamber (hypopyon), lens showing cataractous changes. The young male patient was otherwise normal at the time of presentation in the uvea clinic, with no clinical symptoms of systemic leptospirosis; his serum showed a high level of anti-leptospiral antibody. Complete control of inflammation was observed after treatment with steroids. Picture supplied by V. R. Muthukkaruppan, Aravind Medical Research Foundation, Tamil Nadu, India.
