Comparison of recA nucleotide sequence alignments for NCTC737 (type IA), KPA171202 (type IB), NCTC10390 (type II) and Asn12 (type III). A multiple alignment (no gaps) was constructed using CLUSTALW as described in Methods. Only sequence regions where conserved polymorphic sites exist are shown. Nucleotide differences are highlighted by shading. Type III isolates were found to have four type I-specific polymorphisms (common to IA and IB), six type II-specific polymorphisms and five polymorphisms that are unique to the cluster.
